Price on request
Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain and the world’s tallest free-standing peak. No technical climbing is needed: with good preparation, a sensible route and time to acclimatise, fit walkers can reach Uhuru Peak on the crater rim.
The climb passes through five climate zones, from farmland and rainforest through heather and alpine desert to the glaciers of the summit.
Rainforest with colobus monkeys, giant groundsels and lobelias on the high moorland, the Barranco Wall, and a summit sunrise above the clouds with views over the glaciers.
Scenic and popular, with good acclimatisation profile.
Quieter start through remote rainforest; excellent success rates.
The only route with hut accommodation.
Approaches from the drier north side, near the Kenyan border.
The driest and most popular months are January to mid-March and June to October. Avoid the long rains of April and May.
Fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), or travel by road from Nairobi to Moshi or Arusha (about 6–7 hours, including the border).
